We may use or retain information where necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests, establish or defend legal claims or enforce agreements.
3. Our legal bases for processing
Under UK data protection law, we need a lawful basis for processing personal information.
Depending on the circumstances, we may rely on:
Legitimate interests – where processing is reasonably necessary for our business activities, including responding to business enquiries, managing professional relationships, developing our business, improving our website and protecting our systems, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights.
Contract – where processing is necessary to take steps before entering into a contract or to perform an agreement to which you are personally a party.
Legal obligation – where we need to process information to comply with a legal requirement.
Consent – where we specifically ask for and obtain your consent. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.
4. Stylib technology on our customers’ websites
Stylib provides software that can be integrated into websites operated by our customers. This includes search and product-discovery functionality that may allow visitors to enter text searches or upload images.
The website on which that functionality appears is operated by the relevant Stylib customer and not by Stylib.
When personal information is processed through Stylib technology on a customer’s website, the customer will generally determine the purposes for which that information is processed. In those circumstances, Stylib may process the information on behalf of that customer and in accordance with our agreement with them.
You should therefore refer to the privacy notice of the website you are visiting for information about how your data is used in connection with that website.
Where Stylib processes personal information on behalf of a customer, our handling of that information is also governed by the contractual and data-processing arrangements between Stylib and that customer.
5. Search queries and images
Stylib technology embedded on customer websites may allow users to submit search terms or upload images in order to find relevant products.
Depending on how an individual customer has configured and uses the service, these searches or images may be processed by Stylib on that customer’s behalf in order to provide the requested search functionality, maintain the service and support its operation.
Users should avoid uploading images containing personal or sensitive information unless this is necessary and permitted by the website through which they are using the search service.
The relevant customer’s privacy notice should explain the purposes for which information collected through its website is processed.
6. Who we share personal information with
We may disclose personal information to organisations that help us operate our business and provide our services.
These may include providers of:
website hosting and infrastructure;
cloud computing and data storage;
analytics and performance monitoring;
customer relationship management;
business communications and email;
sales and marketing software;
security and fraud prevention;
professional services such as legal, accounting and insurance services; and
other technology required to operate our business.
These organisations may process information on our behalf where appropriate.
We may also disclose information:
where required by law or a competent authority;
to protect our rights, property, users or systems;
in connection with legal proceedings; or
as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring or sale of all or part of our business.
We do not sell personal information.
7. International transfers
Some of the service providers we use may process personal information outside the United Kingdom.
Where personal information is transferred internationally, we take steps required under applicable data protection law to ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place.
These may include transferring information to a country recognised as providing an adequate level of protection or using approved contractual safeguards.
You can contact us if you would like further information about safeguards relating to international transfers.
8. How long we keep personal information
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including to meet legal, accounting and contractual requirements.
The appropriate retention period depends on the type of information, why we hold it and whether we have an ongoing business, contractual or legal reason to retain it.
For example:
enquiry and correspondence information may be retained while an enquiry or business relationship remains relevant;
customer and business records may be retained for the duration of the relationship and for an appropriate period afterwards;
marketing information may be retained until you opt out or it is no longer relevant; and
certain records may be retained for longer where required for legal, regulatory, tax or accounting purposes.
Where information is no longer required, we will delete or anonymise it in accordance with our retention practices.
9. How we protect personal information
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against accidental or unlawful loss, access, disclosure, alteration or destruction.
Access to personal information is restricted where appropriate to people and service providers who require it for legitimate business purposes.
No internet-based service can be guaranteed to be completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted electronically.
10. Cookies and similar technologies
Stylib.com may use cookies and similar technologies to operate the website, understand how it is used and improve its performance.
Some cookies are necessary for the website to operate. Other cookies or similar technologies may be used for analytics or other purposes where permitted by law and, where required, with your consent.
You can find further information and manage available choices through our Cookie Notice and cookie settings.
11. Marketing
We may send business-to-business communications about Stylib where permitted by applicable law.
Where our communications contain direct marketing, you can ask us to stop at any time.
You can:
use the unsubscribe link in an email; or
contact us at privacy@stylib.com.
We may keep limited information about your preference not to receive marketing so that we can respect that request in the future.
Opting out of marketing does not prevent us from sending communications that are necessary for an existing business or contractual relationship.
12. Your data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may have rights in relation to your personal information, including the right to:
request access to personal information we hold about you;
ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
ask us to delete your personal information;
ask us to restrict how we use your information;
object to certain processing, including certain processing based on legitimate interests;
request transfer of certain information to you or another organisation;
withdraw consent where processing is based on your consent; and
object to direct marketing at any time.
These rights are not absolute and may depend on the circumstances in which we process your information.
To exercise your rights, please contact privacy@stylib.com.
We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
13. Complaints
If you have concerns about how Stylib handles your personal information, we encourage you to contact us first at privacy@stylib.com.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator.
14. Children

We do not knowingly use stylib.com to collect personal information from children.

Stylib.com may contain links to websites operated by third parties.
Those websites have their own privacy practices and Stylib is not responsible for their handling of personal information.
We recommend reviewing the privacy notice of any third-party website you visit.
16. Changes to this privacy notice
We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time to reflect changes to our business, technology or legal obligations.
When we make changes, we will publish the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date above.
