Located in a historic 19th-century manor, Birch's second location refurbished by A-nrd Studio boasts unique features long forgotten and hidden beneath layers of modifications, including mosaic parquet flooring, round bay niches, and decorative stone façades. Below, we dive deeper into the reimagined historic building, its modern interpretation, and sustainable practices.

A homely, welcoming atmosphere is the immediate impression upon entering the new lobby. Here, the design focuses on natural elements, bringing the outdoors inside, with solid timber flooring, terracotta tiles, abstract veneer pieces, and original stonework. The soft, cosy feel comes from layers of various textiles, including green bouclé, rich velvets, and jute and sisal rugs.

Cultivating a communal atmosphere, The Meadow Bar features warm apricot limewashed walls and glossy chequered tiles, a nod to the Victorian era, as well as herringbone wood flooring, complemented by oversized pendants and tall greenery. The main dining area follows a similar theme, incorporating curved booths with rough sawn timber backs, upholstered in abstract camouflage and complementary caramel-toned leather.

The Snug, a richly toned, cosy space ideal for late-night talks, extensively uses dark timber to achieve a dramatic effect, further complemented by indigo blue wall paint, a bas-relief ceiling, and travertine coffee tables. Unique warm lights add a layer of surprise to the historic look and bind the space together with soft rugs, comfortable fabrics in green, ochre, and prune, and geometric jacquard upholstery.
